Logitech Rally Teams Rooms hardware is what turns a good collaboration platform into a meeting people actually want to attend. Software fixes the sharing problem. It does not fix the room where half the participants cannot be heard and nobody in the corner can be seen.
This post is Part 2 of a four-part series for owners and leadership teams. In Part 1, we made the case for running one platform instead of stitching five together. Here we look at the room itself, and at the meeting automation Copilot now brings to it. In Part 3, we add Teams Phone, and Part 4 prepares for a phone migration.
Most hybrid meeting complaints are not software complaints. They are audio complaints. A laptop microphone on a boardroom table picks up the two people nearest it and turns everyone else into noise. Meanwhile, remote attendees see a wide, flat shot and cannot tell who is speaking.
Therefore, the room hardware is not a nice-to-have. It is the difference between a hybrid meeting where remote people participate and one where they quietly stop trying.
Logitech sizes its Rally devices by room, which makes the decision simpler than the spec sheets suggest. List prices below are Canadian dollars, as published by Logitech Canada.
Rally Plus looks cheaper than Rally Bar, and that surprises people. The reason is simple: it has no built-in computer. Consequently, it needs either a room PC or a Logitech RoomMate appliance to run on its own. Pairing it with RoomMate is the appliance route, because RoomMate is itself a CollabOS device certified for Teams Rooms on Android.
For long tables, Logitech Sight sits in the centre of the table as a companion camera and works alongside a Rally Bar or Rally Bar Mini. It cannot operate on its own.
The two AI Cameras are cameras rather than complete room systems, so they pair with your room audio and room compute. Logitech positions them to work with Rally Plus or a professional audio system, and both are managed through Logitech Sync. In addition, RightSight 2 frames groups, individuals and speakers automatically, while occupancy detection can reserve a room when an ad hoc meeting starts and release it again when the meeting finishes early.
Rally Bar, Rally Bar Mini and Rally Bar Huddle are all certified for Microsoft Teams Rooms on Android, and they run the meeting from compute built into the bar. That path is cheaper, simpler and fully managed from the Teams admin centre. The same bars are certified for Teams Rooms on Windows when paired with a certified room PC.
The trade-off is honest. Windows rooms get new features first, including the people-recognition features below, while Android rooms are easier to own.
This distinction saves money, so it is worth getting right.
Logitech’s own features come with the hardware. RightSight frames the active speaker, Grid View detects and frames every participant, AI Viewfinder keeps the whole room captured while the camera crops, RightLight handles backlighting, and RightSound separates speech from other sound. No Microsoft add-on is required.
Microsoft’s features are licensed separately. Cloud IntelliFrame works on both platforms. However, multi-stream IntelliFrame and people recognition — the feature that puts names on faces — require a Teams Rooms Pro licence and Teams Rooms on Windows. Basic does not support either.
People recognition also needs a deliberate decision, not just a policy toggle. Microsoft places responsibility for notice, consent and data retention on the customer. In Canada, that is a conversation to have with your team before you enable face enrolment, not after.
Teams Rooms Basic is free for up to 25 rooms. It covers one-touch join, wireless sharing, Whiteboard and automatic updates, which is genuinely enough for a simple huddle space.
Teams Rooms Pro costs CAD $54.30 per room per month and adds the things a main boardroom tends to need: dual display support, Front Row, a large gallery of up to 50 videos, speaker identification, multi-camera support, AI noise suppression, people counting, and device analytics. In addition, it bundles Intune, Microsoft Entra ID P1 and Defender for Endpoint Plan 2 for the room device itself.
A practical rule: Basic for huddle rooms, Pro for the rooms that host client meetings and all-hands calls.
Room hardware fixes presence. Copilot fixes the aftermath. Here the licensing is precise, and most articles get it wrong.
In practice, a licensed attendee can ask what was decided while the meeting is still running. Join more than five minutes late and Copilot offers to summarise what you missed. Facilitator, which reached general availability at Ignite in November 2025, keeps the agenda moving and captures actions. Interpreter handles live speech-to-speech translation across nine languages, with 20 hours per user each month included.
There are limits worth knowing. AI summaries need a meeting of at least five minutes, and video recap needs ten. Facilitator does not work in one-to-one, group or external chats. Audio recaps sit in OneDrive for 60 days, and Facilitator notes are stored as meeting transcript data, which makes them a records-retention item rather than just a convenience.
On payback, treat the numbers carefully. The only meeting-specific figure available is from a Forrester study commissioned by Microsoft, which reported 18.6% time savings on meeting notes and summarisation. It is vendor-funded, and we would rather say so.
Logitech Sync manages the fleet: firmware at scale, alerts, remote access and ServiceNow ticketing, alongside Microsoft’s Teams admin centre. Its occupancy insights report room and seat usage on a rolling 30-day window, separating in-meeting from out-of-meeting occupancy. Sync Basic is included at no cost, while the Essential and Select room plans add alerting, remote access and extended support.
For leadership, that is the data that answers a real estate question. Do you need more rooms, fewer rooms, or differently sized ones?
Getting Logitech Rally Teams Rooms hardware right is what makes hybrid meetings equal rather than merely possible. Match the device to the room, choose Android unless you specifically need Windows-only AI features, put Pro licences only where they earn their keep, and decide consciously about people recognition. Then let Copilot handle the notes.
Next, we add the last missing piece. A collaboration platform that cannot make and take phone calls is still only part of the story.
